The 2023 Sustainable x Design Philadelphia Expert panel is happening soon!

 

 

We also have three teams competing in the ASID PA East Sustainable x Design Reuse Competition where design/architecture firms practicing interior design within the geographic area served by the Pennsylvania East Chapter of the ASID (Eastern PA, Southern NJ, DE) use extra and discontinued samples from your libraries and from your manufacturer reps and get creative, and not just throw them away! Each firm/individual team is paired with a vendor/manufacture representative team sponsor for materials. They can use no less than 50% of materials from team sponsor and no more than 50% from other manufacturers!

Art boards will be shown at our Sustainability Expert Panel on 9/13/23 at The Resource Center at Diversified Group in the Bourse.

Matthew McCarty, Allied ASID – Voith + Mactavish Architects

Chapter Director at Large and incoming FY 2024 President – Elect

Matthew McCarty joined Voith & Mactavish Architects in 2021 after working at the intersection of interior design and historic preservation, especially adaptive re-use projects. His experience includes high-end residential as well as civic, institutional, and hospitality projects. Matthew graduated from Roger Williams University with a Master of Science in Historic Preservation, and from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. During his time in school, Matthew was actively involved in ASID where he advocated for the education and appreciation for the interior design profession. Now stepping into the role of Director at Large, Matthew hopes to continue to speak to the importance of interiors that maintain a sense of health, safety, well-being and beauty. 

 

Maegan Sweeney, NCIDQ, LEED AP ID+C, WELL AP, IIDA – The Sheward Partnership

Interior Designer | Sustainability Project Manager

Maegan is a LEED Accredited Professional, WELL Accredited Professional, and certified Interior Designer who is interested in the way people interact with their built environment and how that relationship impacts the natural environment. Thoughtful design should not only be inspiring and impactful, but also healthy for a space’s occupants and contribute to the conservation of our natural resources. She has worked on a variety of projects throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Colorado.

She has previously taught at Moore College of Art and Drexel University and is currently a Fellow for Jefferson University’s Fashion and Textiles Futures Center, and an Interior Architecture advisory board member for Boston Architectural College. Royce is also active with ASID as an Industry Partner, having been on the national Outcome of Design advisory committee. She also serves as the Co-Chair for the Industry Partnership council with ASID headquarters.

Bridget Novielli, AIA, LEED GA – JKRP Architects / Spec Matters

Content Team Lead

Bridget Novielli is an architect at JKRP Architects in Philadelphia with a passion for sustainability. She graduated from Penn State University with a B.Arch and a minor in Sustainability Leadership. As President of student group SEED (Students for Environmentally Enlightened Design), she explored her passion for integrating environmentally conscious thinking into architectural education. As a marketing intern for Green Design Guru, she helped develop content and social media strategies for communicating green home design concepts. She now serves as the Content Lead for Spec Matters, a healthy materials advocacy platform dedicated to empowering the building industry to write healthier specifications. 

 

Kaetlin McGee, EIT, LEED AP BD+C, CPHD – Voith + Mactavish Architects

Sustainability Coordinator

Kaetlin McGee, EIT, LEED AP BD+C, CPHD, joined VMA in June 2021 as coordinator for our sustainable design initiatives, ranging from managing LEED certifications to assisting with research on emerging methodologies. She graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a degree in mechanical engineering and has worked as both an engineer and as technical support for a power plant, focused on their engineering software. In 2022, she was instrumental in leading the production of the VMA Sustainability Action Plan produced as part of our AIA 2030 Commitment.

Kaetlin is a member of the local Association of Women in Science (AWIS). In addition, she volunteers regularly with Bethesda Project, an organization that supports and provides emergency shelter for Philadelphians experiencing homelessness, and takes Muay Thai classes in her free time. Some of her favorite memories are the month-long European tour she took with friends after college and the time she won tickets to see Saturday Night Live in 2017.

FIRM AND REP/VENDOR REGISTRATION DEADLINE is 8/4/23.
