Join the Conversation. Continue the conversation in your area. The Advocate by Design - A Conversation: The Role of The Interior Design Professional event was held by the ASID PA East Chapter at the Center / Architecture + Design on 2/23/23. The panelists and audience discussed the importance of the role of an Interior Designer, the importance of organizations and professionals teaming together to advocate for interior design, and where PA stands in the movement toward Interior Design Legislation.
We were thrilled to have advocacy partners from IIDA PA/NJ/DE, IDLCPA and AIA Philadelphia join us for this important discussion about education, our roles and the importance of getting licensed. We left in a place of positivity and how we can team together to advocate for each other's profession. Moderated and lead by ASID PA East Director At Large, Matthew McCarty, Allied ASID, an engaging, passionate, thought provoking, and often humorous conversation unfolded amongst the panelists and audience.
The ASID PA East Chapter was pleased to make a donation of $500 toward the ASID Advocate x Design Fund, as a result from ticket sales, event sponsorships and donations. A donation will also be made to IDLCPA to assist in advocacy efforts to support legislation in our area. Currently, Pennsylvania does not have legislation governing the profession of Interior Design (neither a Title Act or a Practice Act) though the night left us with positivity and optimism for the year ahead.
Thank you to American Society of Interior Design Advocate by Design Council Chair Virginia Weida, for traveling from Pittsburg to support our event and join the conversation.
